CosIng
The European Commission's official database of cosmetic ingredients (Cosmetic Ingredient database). CosIng contains information on substances and ingredients used in cosmetic products, including INCI names, CAS numbers, restrictions, and references to EC 1223/2009 annexes.
CosIng (Cosmetic Ingredient database) is the official European Commission database providing information on cosmetic substances and ingredients. It serves as the authoritative reference for ingredient information under the EU Cosmetics Regulation (EC 1223/2009).
CosIng contains information on over 30,000 cosmetic ingredients including: INCI names (International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients), CAS and EC numbers, chemical descriptions and common names, functions in cosmetic products (e.g., emollient, preservative, UV filter), restrictions from Annexes II through VI of the Cosmetics Regulation, and SCCS opinions related to each ingredient.
The database is publicly accessible and free to use. It is an essential tool for cosmetic formulators, regulatory professionals, and compliance teams for verifying ingredient status, identifying applicable restrictions, and finding the correct INCI name for labeling purposes.
CosIng is regularly updated to reflect amendments to the Cosmetics Regulation annexes. However, it is important to note that CosIng is a reference tool and does not constitute legal advice — the official legal text of the Cosmetics Regulation and its amendments, published in the Official Journal of the European Union, is the authoritative source.
